Princess Jintcon Colegrove (Hupa/Yurok/Karuk) is a Hoopa Tribal Member from the villages of Me’dildin, Ta’k’imiLding, and Diyshta:ng’a’de:n. She is also a Ner-er-ner (Coastal Yurok) from the villages of Chapekw and Espew. She is an advanced Hupa language student and is a teaching assistant at the Iltuq’ language center. Princess completed her xoq’it ch’iswa:l when she was 13 years old. Since then, she has been selected to carry the medicine in healing ceremonies, and has been selected to represent her people in the Jump Dance. Since publication, she is attending Humboldt State University with a major in Environmental Studies with a minor in American Indian Education, she is a McConnell Foundation Scholar, and works for the California State Park System.
