Chapter 11: Rising to the Tolowa Dee-ni’ Language Challenge
Loren Me’-lash-ne Bommelyn (Tolowa) is a tradition bearer for the Tolowa Tribe. He has dedicated himself to preserving the traditional songs, language, and basketry. He is the foremost ceremonial leader of the tribe, and its most prolific basketweaver. He holds a Master of Arts degree in linguistics from the University of Oregon, and is the Smith River tribal chair, high school teacher, and speaker and teacher of the Tolowa language.
